FY2007 LCA Counts by Occupation

In order to analyze the occupational breakdown of LCAs I ran this query against the FY2007 EFILE data:

The full data is here as a 2meg zipped Excel file. (The query returned about 68,000 rows. I had to truncate to 65,000 to do the copy/paste from Access to Excel.)

The top 100 results are below. While it's difficult to determine the precise percent of H-1b that are "software related," clearly bulk are IT jobs. The total number of immigrants sought was 764,776. This is because DOL "approves everything" and many employers file LCA for 10 workers than only apply for a few - or none.

This is the "from" (lower) pay range. Some LCAs also include a "to" (upper) scale.

Some of the results, in yellow, do seem crazy.
