Kim Berry's Greencard Recruitment Survey - July 1996
I had a strong resume including four years developing factory control
systems in 1996 when I applied for a software developer position with
Objective Systems Integrators. Recall that this is before we carried
cell phones. I risked my job at NEC by taking an extreme long lunch
for an interview at Chevy's Mexican Restaurant. A month later they
called me for a second interview, this time at Sushi Restaurant. Each
time I was met by 3 interviewers. At the second interview I made the
joke, "So do want to hire me or just date me?" - but it didn't work.
Both times the interviews tried to scare me with the long hours they
were putting in. One of the interviewers was a black from Africa, and
another was a Canadian who told me he was hoping to get a green card! I
was probably interviewed by the person who was being sponsored. I
never head from OSII again. About 6 weeks later I received the following
survey in the mail. I filled it out and sent it back to the State of
California EDD, clearly indicating that I was qualified for the
position, including my resume. When I heard nothing after another six
weeks I sent a copy of the form in asking for confirmation that it had
been received. I got my form back with an unsigned yellow sticky,
indicating receipt. EDD never told me the outcome. I never heard from
EDD or OSI again. Unfortunately the only copy I can locate is the
marked-up response from EDD. OSI has since moved from Folsom to
Roseville, and probably are still running PERM fake recruitment:
